More Pond

These are two more of the many photographs I took on this occasion. This small pond in located deep in the backwoods near Dutch Flat, California. I have photographed here two other (non-winter) times, when the pond was so choked with cattails that you could barely see the water. I was definitely losing daylight at this point, but I am not sure I would have been able to capture the details of the ice in brighter lighting conditions. I like the enhanced coloring in the first photo where a lingering beam of sunlight hits a couple of the cattail stalks. I felt the image I posted in my main photo gallery had the best composition, however.
